Get paid 60c/kWh for peak export
If you are in the Orion network, you could be earning more from your excess energy
What is the Resi-Flex project?
With demand for electricity increasing each year, Orion are interested in how they can use flexible devices to manage peak demand for energy. We will help to manage your battery to reduce peak demand as needed. At certain times, and as we need to, we will charge and discharge your battery to take the pressure off the network. You will get rewarded with a peak export rate of 60c/kWh.

The rates
Here's what you will be paid when you join the Resi-Flex project.
Instead of having a fixed all-day export rate, you will get paid a peak rate of 60c/kWh for energy you export. The plan is designed for customers with a battery in the Orion Network.
You will still be paid an off-peak export rate of 16c/kWh.

As your solar energy system generates energy, it will first use that energy to power your home. If there is no need to use that energy in your home, then it will look to store the excess energy in a battery.
If the battery is full, then the energy will be automatically sold back to the grid. The battery can also be programmed to charge and discharge based on peak and off-peak pricing periods. As part of the ResiFlex project with Orion Energy, Ecotricity can help with the charging and discharging of the battery during these peak pricing periods as needed.
These peak pricing periods are high when compared to our standard peak pricing rates.
Our current peak pricing rate on our ecoSOLAR plan is currently 21c/kWh. That is an increase of 39c/kWh, allowing you to enjoy a higher ROI on your solar and battery system.
Once the 1-year trial period has been completed, Orion will review the results of the trial to decide how to proceed. We will notify customers of any changes to their plan.
